Position Summary & Responsibilities

Looking for desirable work experience and an opportunity to learn new skills in a hot analytics discipline? Johnson Controls has a function within their Human Resources organization focused solely on Workforce Analytics. You will help drive data-driven people decisions and tell the underlying story behind the data for our strategic reporting capabilities and predictive analytics. The mission: create an evidence-based culture that endorses analytics at the highest levels. The vision: Drive competitive advantage by linking people programs and initiatives to workforce outcomes and business results as well as provide standardized, efficient, user-friendly strategic reporting that drives action.

Under the direction of a Workforce Analytics & Strategy Manager, the Workforce Analytics Intern will compile and analyze HR and financial data to provide decision support to HR Business Partners, HR Centers of Excellence (CoEs) and Business Leaders. The role will have responsibility for successfully obtaining, standardizing and analyzing employee and financial data.

Specific responsibilities may include but is not limited to the following:

  • Assist in integrating disparate data from multiple systems and tool.
  • Assist in implementing processes and procedures to support, standardize, streamline, and in some cases automate data and reporting services using SSIS and SAS software
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of monthly reporting activities (including: metrics, scorecards, and dashboards) as well as define and design ad-hoc reporting as needed
  • Assist in creating reports of analytical findings - both written and graphical
  • Assist in development of tools and applications as needed

Qualifications

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience using relational databases
  • Experience completing routine and ad-hoc data requests
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, Access, and PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to multitask and change direction quickly
  • Ability to take direction and follow-through on tasks within parameters of project and timeline
  • Current sophomore or junior undergraduate or 1st year graduate student in IT, Information Management, or similar
  • Available to work 15-30 hours/week during the semester and FT during the summer
Desired Experience & Qualifications
  • Experience with database design, integration and management projects
  • Able to use SQL efficiently
  • Software development experience
  • Experience developing reports in Workday and PeopleSoft
  • Experience with BI and data visualization tools (preferably Tableau)
