Description

The purpose of the Service Technician Internship is to introduce incoming high school Juniors and Seniors to an exciting career as a Caterpillar dealer technician, and to gain real-world experience by assisting, observing and learning from experienced technicians while performing service and repair of equipment. Examples of the types of machinery that the intern may be exposed to includes earthmoving equipment, diesel engines, electric power generators, lift trucks, and rental products. Extensive on-the-job training, classroom instruction, and e-learning will be provided throughout the internship training program. The successful intern candidate will demonstrate initiative, commitment to team work, enthusiasm for customer service, and model the desire to finding solutions in an efficient manner.



Essential Job Functions
*Ability to assist with tasks under supervision on basic components in work area including engine, hydraulic, transmission, and electrical components: remove and install; disassemble and reassemble; perform minor adjustments
*Ability to locate lubrication requirements and assist in the servicing of machines
*Works as a helper alongside an experienced technician
*Learns and follows 5-Star Contamination Control procedures
*Performs shop, yard, and job site clean-up as needed
*Operates wash rack equipment and properly cleans equipment as needed
*Learns to create and complete comprehensive, timely, and accurate service reports
*Keeps accurate records of all work to be reported during internship
*Other duties assigned
