Capital One is actively seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Data & UI Developer) with expertise in detailed technical design and development of applications using existing and emerging technology platforms. This role will act as a Technical Lead on software development projects with responsibility for overall delivery of software components.

This is for a team with a true "start-up" mentality within the Garage, which works on a lot of experimental and cutting-edge technologies. With an emphasis in new "from scratch" development with an ever-expanding scope of new products, you'll work with and introduce the latest technology tools and techniques daily. We are passionate technologists who focus on building world-class solutions for our beloved customers!

We're looking for a unique individual with a mix of Application Development & Data Engineering skills. This driven individuals will join our team of passionate Software and UI Engineers in creating Capital One's next generation platform.

What You'll Do:

  • Build data pipeline frameworks to automate high-volume and real-time data delivery
  • Build data APIs and data delivery services that support critical operational and analytical applications for our platform operations, customers and partners
  • Continuously integrate and ship code into our on premise and cloud Production environments
  • Develop data visualization ; reporting applications from ground up using a modern technology stack such as, Spark, Postgres, Angular JS, and NoSQL
  • Work directly with Product Owners and customers to deliver data products in a collaborative and agile environment
  • Leverage emerging technologies to bring new tools to our command center
  • Learn alongside some of the best engineers and leaders in the industry
  • Document design decisions and enforce existing process guidelines
  • Follow best practices of Software Development
  • A thirst to learn new technologies and passion to apply them to solve customer problems
  • Embrace DevOps and YBYO (You Build You Own) model
  • Monitor operating efficiency of existing application systems
  • Utilize a working knowledge of multiple development languages
  • Drive cross team design / development via technical leadership /mentoring
  • Understand complex multi-tier, multi-platform systems

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 4 years of experience on designing and developing Data Pipelines for Data Ingestion or Transformation using Java or JavaScript or Python
  • At least 4 years of developing applications with Monitoring, Build Tools, Version Control, Unit Test, TDD, Change Management to support DevOps
  • At least 4 years of experience with SQL and Shell Scripting
  • At least 2 years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure or public cloud service
  • At least 2 years of experience with software design and system architecture, including an understanding of cross systems and user impact
  • At least 2 years of experience working on cross functional teams and able to translate functional and non-functional requirements working with intent owners, and support teams

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree
  • 4+ years of experience working with Dimensional Data Model and pipelines in relation with the same
  • 4 + years' experience in the following Big Data frameworks: File Format (Parquet, AVRO, ORC), Resource Management, Distributed Processing and RDBMS
  • 2+ years of experience working with Streaming using Spark or Flink or Kafka or NoSQL
  • Intermediate level experience/knowledge in at least one scripting language (Python, Perl, JavaScript)
  • Hands on design experience with data pipelines, joining data between structured and unstructured data
  • Basic understanding of ETL standards and best practices
