Master Software Engineer - Messaging and Emerging Tech (Java)

As a Capital One Master Software Engineer, you will be working on innovative, highly available, highly scalable, Digital Messaging systems, which is a large integrated platform that manages our Bank & Credit Card customers digital messaging functionality. It includes message delivery, customer preference management, analytics and message hygiene. The technology stack is primarily Java/Python/APIs, Kafka based Streaming platform, Big Data components. AWS is our deployment platform and we work heavily with open sourced technologies.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios
• Continuously improve software engineering practices
• Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across a full-stack of development tools and technologies
• Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of your solutions
• Bring a passion to stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal & external technology communities, and mentor other members of the engineering community
• Encourage innovation, implementation of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-of-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 5 years of Java experience with Spring Framework
• At least 2 years of experience in API development
• At least 1 year of experience in AWS

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree
• At least 2 years of experience in streaming technologies like Apache Kafka and Spark
• Strong CS fundamentals with TDD and experience building highly scalable and resilient systems
• Strong sense of ownership and a big proponent ofyou build it, you own it (YBYO)DevOps mindset
• At least 1 year of experience in Agile practices
• At least 2 years of experience working within a CICD environment
• At least 2 years of experience working with Big Data technologies including SQL and NOSQL Databases
• Experience building Microservices & Cloud Native applications
• Experience with Machine Learning a plus
