The Search Engine Content (SEM) Strategist is responsible for researching and analyzing best practices, implementing strategies, and keeping on top of emerging trends to maximize search results and conversions. The SEM Content Strategist will report to the Assistant Marketing Director, manage all paid search campaigns for Google as well as other search and display marketing engines. A successful SEM Strategist will effectively manage the paid search budget, have experience in search marketing for financial services and work with the SEO Marketing Agency in order to maximize ROI, drive traffic, and customer conversions. They will be responsible to remain proficient on search engines ranking rules and techniques to optimize spend and drive results. This individual will work with Agency and be accountable to the Marketing Content Manager and will be required to review and develop new content and modify content positioning to align with key words and organic/paid strategies. The SEM Content Strategist serves as a resource to other members of the Marketing team and drives the execution of SEO and social media strategies, content development, and campaign implementations. Success in this role requires exceptional written and verbal communication skills, knowledge of ever changing SEM/SEO strategies, attention to detail, and research skills. Self-direction, creativity, collaboration, and ability to understand and simplify complex information and report out on results. They will interface with SEM Agency partners and responsible to hold the agency accountable for performance and results.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Execute tests, collect and analyze data, identify trends and insights in order to achieve maximum ROI in paid search campaigns.
  • Track, report, and analyze website analytics and PPC initiatives and campaigns.
  • Manage campaign expenses, staying on budget, estimating monthly costs and reconciling discrepancies.
  • Optimize copy and landing pages for paid search engine marketing campaigns.
  • Perform ongoing paid keyword discovery, expansion and optimization.
  • Research and analyze competitor advertising and report on initiatives and progress to the Digital Marketing Director.
  • Implement best practices for SEO and working closely with the Marketing team members to optimize tracking and conversions.
  • Work closely with other Marketing team members on key initiatives and provide backup support as needed.
  • Lead social campaigns and contribute to social strategy

Skills, Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in search engine marketing for a financial services organization.
  • Proven SEM experience and success managing PPC campaigns across Google, Bing, and social media platforms.
  • Well-versed in performance marketing, conversion, and online customer acquisition.
  • Proficient in financial services marketing and regulatory/compliance requirements.
  • Experience with the latest trends and best practices in search engine marketing.
  • In-depth experience with bid management and keyword search tools.
  • Experience with website analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics).
  • Strong analytical skills and experience generating SEM reports.
  • Familiarity with A/B and multivariate experiments.
  • Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript development and constraints.
  • Must be willing to learn techniques, recommend technology and identify vendor partnership as needed.
