The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director, Technology Projects, the manager will assist with the development and implementation of technology-based security solutions for departments on the Morningside, CUMC, Manhattanville campuses, and other Columbia owned/operated buildings in the NY metro area.


Responsibilities

  • The incumbent will collaborate closely with the Director of Technology Projects, the Executive Director of Investigations, the Director of Technology Systems, and the Director of Campus Operations at each location. This collaboration aims to guarantee that any proposed security programs meet the investigative staff's needs, align with existing systems, and bolster the safety and security of the Columbia community.

  • The incumbent will collaborate closely with the Director of Technology Projects, the Executive Director of Investigations, the Director of Technology Systems, and the Director of Campus Operations at each location. This collaboration aims to guarantee that any proposed security programs meet the investigative staff's needs, align with existing systems, and bolster the safety and security of the Columbia community.

  • In the implementation of security technology, the Manager will work alongside CU Service Technicians, Investigators, and external contractors. The technology suite will include, but is not limited to, access control systems, security locks, and digital CCTV cameras.

  • The incumbent will assess the budgeting and staffing requirements of each project and ensure that the necessary resources are properly allocated. The Manager will handle multiple ongoing projects in each location.  


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience required. A minimum of three to five years experience in assessing security risk and developing appropriate cost-effective electronic security solutions.

  • In-depth knowledge of electronic/physical security solutions including, but not limited to electronic locking hardware, large enterprise access control systems, CCTV, and networked digital CCTV recording systems essential. 

  • Computer proficiency using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and project management software is required.      


Preferred Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience as well as experience managing multiple large scale security projects is desired. 

  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD systems and interpreting architectural drawings is strongly desired.  

  • Familiarity with non-profit / higher education accounting and business processes is helpful.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are extremely important.

  • Candidate should have excellent customer service, follow-up skills, and experience working with internal and external clients.
