Position Summary
The Department of Neurology is searching for a Technician B to support cutting-edge research in the development and characterization of preclinical models of epilepsy and developmental disability with the ultimate goal of identifying, and taking advantage of, novel therapeutic targets.
This research takes place within the Institute for Genomic Medicine (IGM), a unique interdisciplinary research environment specializing in genetics and genomics.
The IGM offers an intense and highly collaborative and rewarding research experience, set in a world-class biomedical research environment at Columbia University Irving Medical Center in upper Manhattan.
Responsibilities
The two areas of primary responsibility will be husbandry of animal models, including genotyping, and seizure testing.
The successful candidate will prepare data for review, will be a liaison between the laboratory and veterinary and animal care services at Columbia, and will have the opportunity to participate in other lab duties in the area of molecular genetics. Additional general laboratory duties will also be assigned. The successful candidate will receive on the job training for responsibilities, depending on their qualifications.
