In the role of Water Construction Management Lead, we'll count on you to:

  • Develop market strategies, pursue new business opportunities, and execute construction management projects throughout Southern California.
  • This is a KEY LEADERSHIP role within our growing Southern California business.
  • Take responsibility for subcontractor coordination, scheduling and quality control
  • Emphasis will be on Water and Wastewater projects commonly including transmission/distribution systems, conveyance/collection systems, pumping stations, reservoirs, treatment facilities of varying size and scope, and dams, levees, and related infrastructure.
  • This role will work in partnership with Client Managers and internal HDR teams to establish and bolster strong client relationships focused on generating successful project outcomes.
  • Requires thorough knowledge and understanding of construction management standards of practices including time management, cost management, quality management, and risk management.
  • Must also understand construction contract law, engineering sciences and delivery methods, and familiarity with construction scheduling processes, safety, materials, means and methods of construction.
  • Candidate will be directly involved in retention, oversight, training, and recruitment of Staff.
  • Will coordinate with the Director of Construction Services and assist other Construction Management Area Leaders within HDR.
  • Develop procedures for executing such activities, and implement procedures in coordination with the project team
  • Perform additional construction management activities, including development procurement - construction schedules, construction subcontract scopes, review of subcontract terms and conditions, performance of constructability and value engineering reviews, construction estimating and schedule reviews, and project construction performance presentations
  • Administer and manage construction activities
  • Monitor progress of the overall design as related to construction requirements
  • Perform value engineering and constructability reviews
  • Coordinate local bidding efforts for quotes obtained in the field
  • Assist in procurement of purchase orders and subcontract packages
  • Coordinate, expedite and reviewing construction submittals

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, in Construction Management or Civil Engineering.
  • 10 years of experience in various aspects of construction planning and management, including but not limited to estimating, bidding, preparing and administering purchase orders and subcontracts, scheduling, and cost control
  • 15 years of experience with large municipal water and wastewater construction projects.
  • Experience with construction management software packages and Microsoft Office, Prolog, Primavera, etc.
  • Must have strong people skills and the ability to interact with the design team
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Construction or design certifications
  • Experience with estimating software (Timberline ), scheduling software (Primavera P3 or SureTrak ), and project management software (Prolog )
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) a plus.

The expected compensation range for this position is $151,018.00 - $183,379 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
