Position Summary:

The Custodial Assistants primary responsibility is to perform maintenance and custodial duties as requested by the Facilities Maintenance Manager, as well as ensure that the building is free of garbage and cardboard. In addition, the Custodial Assistant performs housekeeping duties to ensure the building is clean and tidy.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

50% Perform general trash and cardboard collection.

10% Maintain order and cleanliness of the Aurora location.

15% Clean floors with the floor machine, as well as light equipment and material handling.

10% Empty Slipcast waste cans.

10% Dust collection system in Woodshop and empty Woodshop waste, as well as dust pipes.

5% Replenish water as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have any supervisory duties.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma required

Special Requirements:

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, dynamic and changing environment with a focus on meeting deadlines.

Equipment Used:

Hand tools, Forklift, Pallet jack and Floor Cleaner

Safety: Safety Glasses, Safety Shoes, Gloves, Respirator and Mask

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, and perform repetitive motions of hands or wrists.
  • High mental and visual attention required for planning difficult work methods and sequences to obtain size, shape, or physical qualities of product.
  • Exerts in excess of 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Environmental Conditions:

The worker is subject to both inside and outside environmental conditions including temperature changes, noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, dust, garbage and moving mechanical parts.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED

Special Requirements:

  • Drivers' License
  • Ability to work weekends and overtime on a regular basis
  • Location: Aurora, NY
