Job Description:
A postdoctoral position funded by NIH is available at the Taub Institute for Research on Alzheimer's Disease and the Aging Brain, in the Department of Neurology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) in New York, NY (). The postdoctoral research scientist will join a team of researchers conducting basic and translational research. The selected candidate will participate in NIH-funded research projects focused on biomarker discovery and development for various neurological disorders (Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease...). This is a 2-year grant-funded position, with the opportunity of appointment extension.
The applicant must possess prior experience conducting research in animal models of neurodegenerative diseases, with expertise in animal surgeries and behavior, confocal microscopy, and mammalian cell culture. Previous experience in bioinformatics in the biomedical research field processing and analyzing proteomics data is a plus. Experience in molecular and cellular techniques including histopathology, immunohistochemistry, Western blotting, PCR, iPSC culture, and si/shRNA work is also preferred. The postdoctoral research scientist is expected to be independent and show initiative, mentoring/guiding other lab members and having the opportunity to draft reports, write manuscripts/reviews, make presentations, and communicate at local, national, and international meetings as needed for their career development.

PhD Degree in neuroscience, or similar field. Proficiency in English is required.
