Position Summary:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a full-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor to develop and implement research related to understanding the behavioral pathways by which risk for mental disorder is transmitted across generations with a focus on disadvantaged or at-risk populations and serve as a Clinical Psychologist in the Women's Mental Health Division.

Research Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Columbia OB/GYN colleagues and other Columbia faculty to create a translational research program that seeks to understand processes and uses biomarkers to evaluate impact of novel prevention and mental health promotion interventions for the mother/child dyad or broader family unit integrated into clinical and community services.
• The applicant must demonstrate practical/applied expertise in analytic methods appropriate to enhancing research investigating psychosocial, behavioral, and environmental factors associated with mental health outcomes as well as empirical research involving the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions.

Clinical Responsibilities

• Providing short-term psychotherapeutic treatments (typically up to six months postpartum when needed)
• Collaborating with the Program Senior Leadership to implement new initiatives and build the program.
• Collaborating with other team members including administrative staff, medical students, residents, fellows, psychology and social work trainees and research staff.
• Participating in peer psychotherapy supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD or PsyD in clinical or counseling psychology
• Doctorate with a focus in perinatal health/mental health, preferably with a public health or translational research focus
• Commitment to excellence in research
• Demonstrate practical/applied expertise in analytic methods appropriate to enhancing research investigating psychosocial, behavioral, and environmental factors associated with mental health outcomes as well as empirical research involving the design, implementation, and evaluation of interventions.
• Demonstrate experience as independent researcher with funded research studies, presentations at national and international conferences, and a record of high-quality peer-reviewed publications.
• Evidence of collaborative research supporting advances in maternal-child health promotion and disease prevention, and a track record of established independent research including NIH-funded grants
• Excellence in written and oral communication skills
• Licensed in the state of New York.

Preferred Qualifications:

Skill sets of particular interest include but not limited to epigenetics, psychiatric epidemiology, structural equations modeling, maternal caregiving measures, and cross-culturally sensitive measurements and intervention design//assessment strategies.
