Our Client is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee all aspects of the Firm's financial operations and functions. Based in Buffalo, NY, this is a senior administrative role that will report to the Chief Operating Officer and work closely with the firm's Managing Partners and other members of the firm's governing executive leadership team. The CFO enjoys extensive input into the Firm's strategic direction, and tactical efforts which support that direction. The CFO provides data and advice in connection with a variety of cutting-edge projects, practice group efforts, and projects designed to position the Firm for financial and operational success. The CFO will oversee Finance, Accounting and Financial Planning and Analysis for the firm.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization with regard to long term operational goals, budgets and forecasts. Provide insight and recommendations to both short term and long term growth plans of the firm.
  • Evaluate, identify, and help implement systems and software to provide critical financial and operational information. Evaluate and make suggestions for automating processes and increasing working efficiency.
  • Assist in selection and engage consultants, auditors and other financial and tax advisors.
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives and operational models.
  • Implement policies, procedures and processes as deemed appropriate by firm leadership.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, mentor, counsel and participate in the professional development of finance and accounting staff as required.
  • Oversee the month end close process, constantly reviewing procedures while eliminating efficiencies, including all month-end closing activities and preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  • Oversee preparation and present timely and accurate monthly financial reports including profit and loss analysis, forecast to budget, cash flow reports, work-in-process, billable hours, billing and accounts receivable analysis.
  • Manage financial planning and analysis department. Supervise creation of analytical profit reports, software implementation and tools for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Manage cash flow and oversee accounting operations such as account receivables, account payables, cash applications, and other functions.
  • Develop and maintain systems of internal controls and financial procedures to safeguard financial assets, ensure substantiating documentation is approved, ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable federal, state and local laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Ensure the preparation and timely filing of all local, state and federal tax returns.
  • Oversee the coordination and activities of independent accountants/auditors and the preparation of the annual GAAP financial statements, tax returns and timely processing of partner K-1 forms.
  • Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability
  • Maintain banking relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners. Represent the firm to banks, financial partners, institutions, investors, public auditors and officials.
  • Oversee and further develop and improve financial reporting infrastructure to enable strategic decisions, maintain ongoing analysis and performance.
  • Prepare and present financials to the firm's leadership, equity partners and key stakeholders.
Job Requirements
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
  • Advanced degree in a related field, MBA and/or CPA or CFA preferred.
  • 10+ years of leadership and managerial experience with demonstrated success in the creation of high performing teams.
  • Strong GAAP and Internal Controls knowledge required.
  • Systems implementation experience.
  • Works well in a team environment
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Strong organization and time management skills
