Position Summary
The American Museum of Natural History is seeking a Coordinator to support the work of the Senior Director of Philanthropic Strategy, in service of fostering comprehensive philanthropic coordination and alignment across teams within the Museum's Institutional Advancement department. The Coordinator will play a key role collaborating with the Senior Director to optimize departmental workflows and information sharing, establish and enhance internal systems, and organize multiple streams of work.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Supporting the Senior Director on an array of projects and priorities
  • Organize and facilitate communications, meetings, and follow-up with other teams throughout the department, and the Museum when appropriate.
  • Develop, write, edit, and proof clear and effective project communications.
  • Draft meeting agendas and overviews; keep clear notes on discussions, goals, action items, and next steps.
  • Create and monitor various project timelines and deliverables.
  • Gather, organize, track, and analyze project outcomes.
  • Keep up to date on current philanthropic trends, data, and other philanthropy-focused information.
  • Staff occasional Institutional Advancement events in the evening and on some weekends.

The expected salary range for the Coordinator, Institutional Advancement is $48,000 - 55,000. This position is overtime eligible and the AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.

Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of related or transferable work experience.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Meticulous attention to detail; superior organizational skills.
  • Exceptional analytical, planning, and time management skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and prioritize.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills-with the ability to interface with individuals at varied levels of an organization, both internally and externally.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, quickly and accurately.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Nonprofit development experience a plus.
  • Familiarity with Raiser's Edge preferred.
