Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Director - Development.

The Associate Director of Development plays an important role within the Office of Development & Alumni Affairs with the guidance of Senior Directors and Directors who are responsible for creating and implementing strategies to attract funding for NYU Langone Health. This position will have their own portfolio focused on the ten thousand dollar+ level working towards an annual goal of $3M to $5M (contingent upon portfolio & experience level), with a target of closing 40+ gifts at theten thousand dollar+ level.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manages portfolio of prospects who are giving at modest levels but have capacity to give at ten thousand dollar+.
  • Works with Senior Directors, Development Directors, faculty and staff to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors and prospects with wealth capacity.
  • Documents all development activity related to identification, cultivation, solicitation, and reporting/stewardship using the TRAX database.
  • Coordinates prospect research with the Prospect Research Management and Strategy team to identify new major donor prospects from the patient database and other sources.
  • Works collaboratively with members the Major Gifts, Planned Giving, Donor Experience/Events, Alumni, Donor Relations, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Direct Response, Prospect Research and Development Administration teams.
  • Assists with the development of event opportunities for cultivating and stewarding major donors and identifying new prospects. Develops event materials and presentations when appropriate.
  • Researches and writes briefings to prepare Medical Center faculty and executive management to ensure effective meetings with major donors.
  • Develops working knowledge of the Medical Centers and Departments goals, priorities and programs to help ensure successful fundraising.
  • Liaises with the Donor Relations on the development of materials highlighting programs.
  • Prepares letters of inquiry, proposals and reports to prospects and donors on behalf of Medical Center faculty members to seek support and steward gifts for research, education and clinical services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree required
5-8+ years of relevant experience; Minimum of at least 3-5 years of experience in major gifts

2 years of management experience preferred
Strong writing and editing skills
Experience in raising five and six figure gifts
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
Self-motivated, outgoing and results oriented
The presence, cultural sensitivity, and communication skills necessary to be an effective representative of NYU Langone Health and a liaison to the donor base
Knowledge of software applications, including MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
Development database experience
Operates well in a fast paced environment
Works strategically, collaboratively, respectfully, and professionally with colleagues across all divisions and teams within the department. Communicates clearly, shares, listens and recognizes others contributions
Possesses the presence, cultural sensitivity, and communication skills necessary to be an effective representative of NYU Langone Health and a liaison to the donor base

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in academic medical center fundraising preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81,325 - $114,660 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
