POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for reviewing and analyzing income tax reporting for all Sony Corporation of America foreign subsidiaries. This will include: maintaining IAS 12 tax packages; training of affiliates worldwide; required consolidation of deferred tax assets and liabilities; monthly updates, forecast and budgets. Maintain tax basis, as well as earnings and profits calculations for these foreign subsidiaries. Prepare and organize income tax reporting forms for foreign subsidiaries as required for filing with the Internal Revenue Service. Perform research on international tax issues.

This is a Hybrid opportunity requiring 3-4 days onsite in our NYC office.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in review and analysis of foreign income tax provision reporting for all foreign subsidiaries in the Sony Corporation of America consolidated group (including subsidiaries in foreign joint ventures)

  • Assist in reviewing updates of pre-tax income/income tax for tax budgets, forecast and forecast updates for all foreign subsidiaries.

  • Prepare income tax returns as required by the Internal Revenue Service (5471, 5472, 5713, 8858, 8865 & 1120F).

  • Prepare and maintain the earnings and profits, tax pools and tax basis for all foreign subsidiaries.

  • Calculate foreign income inclusions as required by the Internal Revenue Code [Subpart F] and tested income or loss for GILTI and 163j analysis.

  • Prepare foreign tax credit analysis for the Sony Corporation of America consolidated group (Form 1118).

  • Perform International compliance research as required.

  • Prepare and maintain documentation required to obtain royalty/dividend/interest w/h tax rates under treaties between the U.S and foreign countries. Includes obtaining tax certifications from the IRS.

QUALIFICATION FOR POSITION

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Master's degree in taxation, or equivalent experience is desired

  • A minimum 5 years of experience, including 2 years of- recent International Tax Experience in Public Accounting and/or Private Industry

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, high degree of accuracy and self review and ability to meet deadlines in a time sensitive environment

  • Working knowledge of MS Office, tax return software and experience with technology and process improvement solutions a plus.

  • Must be eligible to work unrestricted in the USA

    The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $95,000 to $107,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
