Job Description

Regenerative Engineering Laboratory in Columbia University Irving Medical Center invites candidates to apply for an open position as a Visiting Associate Research Scientist (Self or fellowship funded) in research projects for tissue engineering in periodontal regeneration. The ideal candidates will have clinical experience in dentistry with periodontitis, dental implants, and peri-implantitis. The candidate will participate in the design of novel 3D biomaterials and a controlled delivery system to promote periodontal tissue regeneration.

Regenerative Engineering Laboratory, directed by Dr. Chang H. Lee, is a part of Dental and Craniofacial Research (CDCR) in the College of Dental Medicine. CDCR contains over 4000-sq feet of space, including state-of-the-art research facilities, and serves as an inter-campus hub for interdisciplinary collaboration. Lee Lab has long-lasting, active collaboration with the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and the Department of Biomedical Engineering. The candidate will be able to participate in large-scale collaborative projects to regenerate musculoskeletal and craniofacial tissues.


The candidate should have excellent communication skills in English and the ability to interact effectively with other postdoctoral fellows, and graduate and undergraduate students in a fast-paced environment. Excellent organization and time management skills, initiative, and ability to plan, carry out, and troubleshoot complex studies with minimal supervision are required. Attention to detail and the ability to work on multiple projects are also expected. The candidate must have at least 3-4 years of relevant clinical and research experience.
