Senior Research Associate

Senior Research Associate for the Urban Tech Hub at Cornell Tech


Essential Functions for the Senior Research Associate include:


1. Local Infrastructure Hub webinars (25% - approx. 1 day/week)

* develop event content

* speaker recruitment

* prepare event summaries

* event coordination support will be provided by UTH admin staff/fellows/students


2. Research Development (25% - approx. 1 day/week)

* engage with Cornell Tech leadership, faculty, and UT fellows to develop project ideas suitable for external funding

* identify and assess external funding opportunities

* identify and secure commitments from external research collaboration partners

* when appropriate support proposal preparation and coordination with Cornell OSP


3. Ecosystem Engagement + Education (25% - approx. 1 day/week)

* develop content strategy for Urban Tech Summit thematic and program development speaker recruitment prepare and deliver opening address

* curate and conduct Future of Urban AI webinar series (Fall 2023)

* teach Smart Cities class (Spring 2024)


4. Speculative Research + Research Support (25% - approx. 1 day/week)

* horizon scanning studies TBD

* Atlas of Urban Tech

* mentor fellows


Requirements:

* PhD in Urban Studies or similar discipline


Pay Range:

* $89,700 - $132,500

Pay Range:

$51,200.00 - $142,400.00

Pay Ranges:

The hiring rate of pay for the successful candidate will be determined considering the following criteria:

  • Prior relevant work or industry experience.

  • Education level to the extent education is relevant to the position.

  • Academic Discipline (faculty pay ranges reflects 9-month annual salary)

  • Unique applicable skills.
