NYC Ferry operated by Hornblower is seeking a HSSQE for our operation in Brooklyn, NY.

About the Opportunity:

Under the supervision of the Director of HSSQE within the HSSQE Department, the HSSQE Coordinator will assist the HSSQE Department in ISO efforts to ensure the system meets the ISO standards of ISO 9001:2015 (Quality), ISO 14001:2015 (Environment) and ISO 45001:2018 (Health & Safety). Continual improvement is a daily objective and the HSSQE Coordinator will make sure that all programs, protocols, and activities are developed to enhance the experience of our crew and riders.

About You:

This person will be adaptable, dynamic, and embody Hornblower's RESPECT Service System.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the continual improvement of the RESPECT Management System (RMS) and all related ISO functions.
  • Maintain adequate records, tracking and documentation, as assigned.
  • Ability to perform Core Competency Training.
  • Provides support, preparation, and participation in Company Internal, External and 2nd Party Management System audits.
  • Assists in coordination of scheduled training of all departments.
  • Perform site visits, inspections, risk assessments as assigned at all required locations, and generate associated written reports and documents.
  • Development and coordination of new training topics for all departments.
  • Assists in the creation of documents for all departments.
  • Maintain internal ISO document portal, "NYC Ferry City Hall" on OneDrive Software.
  • Assists in the coordination of regulatory/company required training, voluntary environmental training, drills, exercises, etc....
  • Co-Chair Safety Committees, responsible for providing attention and review to aspects of NYC Ferry's Health & Safety goals.
  • Meet Company Security Officer (CSO) duties as assigned; assist in coordination of security drills, security assessments, and annual exercises.
  • Ensure Alternate Security Program (ASP) is fully implemented and compliant across the necessary vessels within the fleet and general security for fleet.
  • Act as Alternate Port Safety Officer; assist in all Port Safety Officer duties as required by Company Safety Management Program.
  • Liaise with local security stakeholders (NYPD, AMSC, USCG).
  • Participate in external meetings and events as deemed necessary.
  • Conduct visual health & safety, security, HAZCOM inspections on board vessels, in warehouse areas, Pier C, and other areas as identified (NYCF), conduct inspections at BPSY and SSI locations as assigned.
  • Write reports from inspection findings as assigned.
  • Further develop knowledge and focus on areas that include but are not limited to: Company Alternate Security Plan, Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental best management practices.
  • Develop & research green initiatives, including green products and other eco-friendly programs.
  • First Aid/CPR/AED certified instructor.
  • Maintain inventory/distribute Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in conjunction with all departments.
  • Provide content for quarterly Quality, Environmental, & Safety bulletins.
  • Other duties, as assigned to support HSSQE company-wide objectives.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, ISM Code and/or other Management System standards
  • 100 Ton Inland Master license or higher
  • CSO/FSO/VSO
  • Current CPR training
  • HAZWOPER training, preferred
  • Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Experience with Word, Excel, and organizational documentation file management systems

SALARY RANGE: $60,000 - $75,000
