Core Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, draw, map, and/or estimate layout work for the addition of new facilities to the Gas Distribution System. They will evaluate the distribution system capacity and provide for load growth.
  • Perform drafting and design in AutoCAD 2D.
  • Utilize current computer technologies to render 3D designs.
  • Read, interpret and prepare civil, structural, and/or architectural construction drawings, including plans, sections, and details with knowledge of how to interpret company plates, layouts, field sketches, and other drawings (all of which involve color coding). These also include gas, electric, steam, company mains and services, conduit and regulator plates.
  • Expected to advance to the Sr. Designer career path in Gas Engineering.
  • Make field visits as required/necessary.

Required Education/Experience

  • High School Diploma/GED and 2 years' of relevant drafting (design) work experience which may also include construction management in a design capacity Design Work Experience or
  • Associate's Degree Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Architectural Technology (AAS Technical/Science)

Relevant Work Experience

  • Computer proficiency with the ability to perform drafting and design in AutoCAD 2D. Required and
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel). Required and
  • Must have the ability to read, interpret and prepare civil, structural, and/or architectural construction drawings, including plans, sections, and details with knowledge of how to interpret company plates, layouts, field sketches, and other drawings (all of which involve color coding). These also include gas, electric, steam, company mains and services, conduit and regulator plates. Required and
  • Must have a working knowledge of civil, structural, and architectural design issues. Required and
  • Selected candidates will be expected to advance to the Sr. Designer career path in Gas Engineering. Required and
  • Knowledge of 3D design and the ability to utilize current computer technologies to render 3D designs. Preferred and
  • Knowledge of Microstation and eGIS. Preferred

  • Possess manual dexterity and the ability to use hands for the duration of the workday
