Who we are and what we do:
The Cornell University Equine and Nemo Farm Animal Hospital--part of the Cornell University's College of Veterinary Medicine--offers state-of-the-art patient care for horses, cattle, goats, sheep and pigs and other farm animals. Board-certified specialists, dedicated residents, licensed veterinarian technicians, and supervised students work together to provide the best available surgical care, diagnostic procedures, treatment, and hospitalization for our patients. We are open around-the-clock for emergency and critical care cases, including neonatal intensive care and high-risk pregnancies.
We are seeking an Animal Attendant to work as a part of a team supporting faculty clinicians, licensed veterinary technicians (LVT's), interns, residents, veterinary students and other staff throughout the hospital, providing optimal patient care for our animal patients and their owners.
Specifically, the Animal Attendants will:
The Cornell University Hospital for Animals provides 24-hour care for animals 365 days of the year. The schedule for this position requires flexibility to ensure that adequate patient care and service needs are provided without interruption or exception.
The regular shift will be: Sunday 4:00am-2:30pm, Monday 10:00am- 8:30pm, Thursday 4:00am-2:30pm, Friday 4:00am-2:30pm
What are the qualifications?
A High School diploma and at least a year experience, specifically with large animal handling (horses, cows, pigs, alpacas, llamas, sheep, goats) and/or animal husbandry in a hospital/clinical setting or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Due to the nature of this position rabies vaccinations and titer are required, the cost is covered by department.
This non-exempt position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between Cornell University and United Auto Workers (UAW) Local 2300.
