About the role:

The Payroll Administrator acts as a liaison between Human Resources and end users who have a payroll inquiry and helps to identify and provide solutions. Oversees, processes, and conducts first audit of the daily/weekly/bi-weekly payroll operations; research, evaluates and ensures that payroll issues and discrepancies are resolved in a proper and timely manner; and maintains and updates necessary data in HR/Payroll System. Researches, analyzes, and retrieves data to prepare and maintain complex payroll records, summaries, and reports; reconciles differences within established payroll, benefit, and retirement deductions by using critical analysis skills; interprets, explains, and complies with negotiated contracts, prescribed laws, & rules.

Duties and responsibilities of the job include the following (but is not limited too):

  • Serves as a technical point-of-contact and Subject Matter Expert for payroll processing and assists with ensuring payroll data integrity.
  • Resolves issues with timesheets and ensures all are approved as appropriate.
  • Liaises with the accounting team (accounts payable and receivable) to reconcile discrepancies.
  • Verifies and audits tax withholding based on office, residence, and work location.
  • Responsible for garnishment, child support, tax levy, and LOA (FMLA, PFL, STD & LTD) calculations and entry into HR/Payroll System.
  • Tracks and deducts 401K loan payments, garnishments, tax levies and other mandatory employee deductions.
  • Resolves issues and answers payroll-related questions.
  • Updates and calculates information received from the HR team related to new hires, terminations, salary changes, leaves of absence, and work site transfers/changes, bonus, severance, and award payments.
  • Adheres to established payroll SOPs (standard operating procedures), narratives and policies for HR and accounting/finance.
  • Ensures end of year processes are completed accurately and timely including auditing of W2s and other tax documents.
  • Other duties as assigned..

Preferred experience, education, and qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business information systems, Human Resources, Finance or other related field or equivalent Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills experience
  • 5+ years of direct payroll experience within a multi-state payroll setting.
  • 2+ years of experience with ADP WFN and advanced knowledge of payroll processing.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills.
  • Perform quality work within determined timeframes.
  • Work independently while understanding the necessity for communicating and coordinating work efforts with other employees, departments, divisions, etc.
  • Work on ad-hoc tasks, assignments and projects as needed.
  • Interact professionally with other employees, customers, vendors, and shareholders.

Potential Salary: $85,000 - $100,000 annually

This salary range only reflects base wages and does not include benefits, bonus, or incentive pay. Salary bands are purposefully wide ranging to encompass the different factors considered in determining where a candidate falls in the range, including but not limited to, seniority, performance, experience, education, and any other legitimate, non-discriminatory factor permitted by law.
