Acara Solutions has been providing U.S. aerospace and advanced manufacturing firms with our staffing services for over 60 years. Our Long Island, NY (Farmingdale) large aerospace & electronics client has a Staff Radar Engineer opening. This is a salaried direct position with a range target of $175K - $180K that can potentially be as high as $200K plus bonus. Relocation available.

This position may require a Secret clearance due to military clients. Candidates need to be able to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance as one of the eligibility requirements. Due to the nature of the position and customer base, it is 100% onsite.

The Radar System Engineer performs complex analysis, modeling and simulation tasks as part of a team developing advanced radar solutions for airborne Active Electronically Scanned Array radar reporting to the Chief Engineer.

  • Develop state-of-the-art radar signal processing algorithms using MATLAB for radar mode designs applicable to maritime, overland and air-to-air modes;
  • Knowledge of Waveform Design and Signal Processing methods to meet customer detection and geolocation requirements. Experience with Synthetic Aperture Radar is also desired;
  • Experience with Active Electronically Scanned Array technology and design. Knowledge of how radar hardware impacts the overall radar mode performance;
  • Analysis of Flight Test Data with ability to debug system performance issues in stressing customer environments including performance assessments and root cause analysis;
  • Ability to form team consensus on design choices and execution plans;
  • Provides input on research plans and programs in core areas and related technologies;
  • Coordinates with other technical resources to formulate and carry out studies and advances in design and manufacturing to advance the capabilities and cost effectiveness of core radar products


Job Requirements
Required Skills / Qualifications:
Master's degree in Engineering (ideally MSEE) with a PhD preferred
Min 7 years of experience in experience in Radar Systems engineering that includes:
- Knowledge of Waveform Design and Signal Processing methods
- Experience with Active Electronically Scanned Array technology and design
- Knowledge of how radar hardware impacts the overall radar mode performance
Min 3 years of experience with MATLAB

ITAR facility with military clients - ability to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance is required

Preferred:
Experience with Synthetic Aperture Radar
