About the role

The Facility Manager is responsible for all localized activities at our Material Processing and Transportation Facility, including but not limited to solid waste processing, shredding, transportation, and industrial services. Accountable for the profitability and efficiency of all facility operations while maintaining a safe work site and complying with regulatory agencies. Expected to provide strong leadership to employees within the facility to maximize operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop maintain, and promote an elite workplace quality, performance, appearance, and effectiveness, emphasizing safety and environmental compliance.

  • Set clear expectations, lead, coordinate, train, and direct plant employees on initiatives from Corporate and Divisional leaders.

  • Lead site operations to consistently meet or exceed business objectives and Annual Operating Plan targets.

  • Develop long-term maintenance, staffing, operational and budgetary plans.

  • Develop and execute strategy for the site to increase operational discipline/accountability, productivity, quality, reliability, employee engagement and retention.

  • Champion use of Six Sigma/Lean tools in driving facility improvement to develop and implement strategic initiatives relative to inventory, capacity utilization and growth opportunities to deliver business results and drive maturity beyond current level.

  • Drive cultural change, accountability, and continuous improvement mindset throughout the organization.

  • Ensuring all preventative maintenance obligations are consistently met and ensure that the facility is audit ready.

  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with our other Covanta locations daily to support our sales team, operations, and the needs of our clients.

  • Build positive working relationships within the global organization and serve as point-of-contact for broader Company initiatives.

  • Work with local authorities and agencies to ensure compliance while completing and submitting required reports as needed.

  • Analyze KPI's for facility budget requirements, sales, and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity and goal achievement while identifying areas in which cost reductions and program improvements can be made.

  • Successfully manage employee performance while mentoring and guiding the overall growth of the facility.

  • Represent Covanta in local government, community, and industry groups.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or industrial engineering, or a closely related field, including (5) years of supervisory experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive manufacturing or transportation experience, ideally with material handling.

  • Proven leadership skills as a team player/builder and a driver of value-added results.

  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing operations, project planning, cost control and program management.

  • Ability drive Safety and Compliance programs.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to influence others and interact effectively with all levels of the organization.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Ability to analyze information, find solutions and make improvements.

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and possess strong time management skills.

  • Ability to work closely with clients and sales to create solutions.

  • Background in Environmental Services, Wastewater, HAZMAT, Transportation, Industrial Services, Waste to Energy, Liquid/Solids processing, and Regulatory Compliance is preferred.

  • Knowledge of hazardous, non-hazardous, and universal waste is beneficial.

The annual salary for this position is between $123,000-163,000. This is a good-faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final salary figure will consider various factors, including experience, ability, and location. Covanta is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.
