What we do:

The Markets business within BNY Mellon helps both BNY Mellon and 3rd party clients' access financial markets to solve their trading, financing, liquidity, and collateral needs. The Markets business has approximately 550 people spread across 28 locations globally. Within the group, there are over 2,500 clients in more than 80 jurisdictions.

Underneath the Markets umbrella, the Global Markets Trading ("GMT") business specializes in market making in Rates, Credit, and Equities across both securities and derivatives.

Team & Role:

The Agency MBS Trading role focuses on providing liquidity to clients across the Agency MBS complex with a focus on the To-Be-Announced (TBA) market. It reports to the Head of Fixed Income Trading. In this role you will make an immediate impact on BNY Mellon's client footprint and revenue targets by expanding our presence as a liquidity provider in Agency MBS across voice and electronic venues (e.g., Bloomberg and Tradeweb). Your analytical strengths and diversity of opinion will bring value to our team of highly motivated traders who have created a culture of trust, respect, and collaboration.

We're seeking a future team member for the role of Fixed Income to join our Markets, Fixed Income & Equities team. This role is located in New York City, NY and/or Pittsburgh, PA, and is a Hybrid position.

In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Pricing, execution, and risk management for TBA trading across Conventional and GNMA MBS.
  • Support and develop relationship with sales teams/client accounts to increase BNY Mellon's footprint in MBS market.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with a broad range of internal stakeholders including Legal, Compliance, Market Risk and Credit Risk.
  • Ability to think creatively and critically while implementing ideas in a fast-changing environment.

To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following:

  • Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years relevant experience in MBS trading.
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial markets and in the respective products and clients. Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of Bloomberg, booking systems, and trading protocols
  • Advance analytical and numerical competency.
  • Strong self-starter mentality
  • Series 7 & 63 required.

BNY Mellon assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $119,000 and $221,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNYM total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs.


This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
