Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is hiring a Bartender. In this position, you will prepare and serve non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages to employees and individuals attending meetings, courses, and special events at the Lab.

Position Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve beverages
  • Operate POS system in Bar
  • Provide support to the Bar manager which involves:
    1. Providing clientele feedback
    2. Providing product inventory information regarding keeping product in stock.
  • Monitor alcohol consumption to control over indulgence; exercise necessary action to avoid over consumption.
  • Follow standard sanitation procedures.
Position Requirements

EDUCATION: T.I.P.S. training required (or other recognized consumption training); Bartending school a plus.

EXPERIENCE: Catering and bar experience a plus.

  • Familiarity with rules of club liquor license.
  • Familiarity with variety of coffee, alcoholic, and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Alcoholic drink preparation recipes.
  • Money management.
  • Ability to troubleshoot bar equipment and perform minor repairs.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Diplomacy and tact.
  • Social /confidentiality etiquette.
  • Telephone etiquette.
  • Ability to interact with a wide variety people of diverse cultures, ethnicities, and professional profiles.

The salary range or hourly rate listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
