A Brief Overview

This position is responsible for being a primary point of contact for Hunt Military Communities within the Risk Management team. This position will assist in the procurement of insurance policies for Hunt as well as manage special project insurance placements and contract reviews. This position will develop performance metrics, KPI's and the means and methods of tracking those metrics for the HMC group. Position will report to the Senior Vice President of Insurance and act as a second to the VP of Insurance.

What you will do

  • Insurance Procurement:
    • Manage Hunt insurance renewal process timelines to ensure renewals stay on track
    • Request, collect, review, and present insurance underwriting submission information for each insurance policy
    • Complete insurance policy applications and develop supplemental responses
    • Assist with allocation of insurance premiums to business cost centers
    • Prepare insurance premium and coverage comparisons by line of coverage
    • Review insurance policy binders for accuracy and outline any needed revisions
    • Review insurance policies for accuracy and outline any needed revisions
    • Assist with allocation of insurance premiums to business cost centers
  • Project Placement:
    • Collect construction project insurance underwriting data for submission to broker (Completion of Builders Risk and Liability worksheets and applications)
    • Request and review insurance documentation required in construction loans and for loan closings
    • Collect, review, and track general contractor insurance documentation for construction projects
    • Complete construction insurance applications and supplemental documentation
    • Monitor construction project timelines for units rolling off Builders Risk, occupancy, substantial completion, and need for extension of Builder's Risk and any Owner's Interest Liability policies
  • Other:
    • Act as a primary point of contact between the HMC team and Risk Management team
    • Support business continuity
    • Assist with annual Military insurance audits and reviews
    • Ensure that new legal entities, properties, automobiles, and employees are added to current insurance policies on a timely basis.
    • Facilitate communication between the Company and insurance carriers, brokers, lenders, auditors, partners and other stakeholders
    • Ensure that insurance coverages are in compliance with 3rd party agreements
    • Review insurance terms and conditions for sales contracts and leases
    • Respond to all insurance related requests and queries from internal and external parties as they arise.
    • Assist financial planning personnel with budgeting/forecasting of insurance premiums for business units and properties
    • Manage Third party vendor relationships and serve as liaison between TPA's and the units.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of performance metrics and benchmarks.
    • Track and manage claims associated with the military portfolio.
    • Other duties and special projects as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • 10+ years of corporate risk management or other insurance industry related experience. Required
  • Should possess intimate familiarity with property and casualty insurance and related programs including loss control, workers' compensation, builders' risk, general liability and litigation management. Required
  • Must be able to demonstrate significant experience in evaluating and recommending risk management financing options. Required
  • Experience in a government services environment and construction is also helpful. Preferred
  • Military background or experience in Military housing/Property Management preferred but not required. Preferred
  • Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of federal and state insurance laws and regulations and accreditation standards
  • Leadership capabilities
  • Problem solving and analytical skills (both quantitative and qualitative)
  • Knowledge of statistics, data collection, analysis, and data presentation
  • Strong oral and written presentation skills, including high level of proficiency in PowerPoint, Word and Excel
  • Keen ability to develop strong personal and professional relationships at all levels with an organization
  • CPCU Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriter Preferred
  • or other designation programs from the American Institute for CPCU and Insurance Institute of America. Preferred

Compensation

We are committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation. The hiring range for this position is generally between $165,000 - $206,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. Final salaries will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, licenses, certifications, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the general Hiring Range for the role. Hiring at the top of the range is reserved for exceptionally qualified candidates. We consider internal and external factors as a part of every final offer.
