Job Description

TheSurgicalPhysician Assistantworksclosely with the physicians to provide quality, efficient, and thoughtful patient care. The Physician Assistant has advanced health assessment and decision-making skills. The provision of care includes, but is not limited to: performing history and physical examinations, comprehensive assessment, orderingdiagnostic test, prescribing pharmacological agents and treatments and non-pharmacological therapies,following therapeutic protocols, andprovidingeducationalinstruction in collaboration with the multidisciplinary transplant team.

This individual must demonstrate the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and appropriately interpret information relative to the patient's age-specific needs is required.This position will provide medical/surgical care to preandpost liver, kidney & pancreas transplant patients, hepatobiliary surgery and Vascular access patients.

Additional responsibilities include fluid management post liver and kidney/pancreas transplant; Post transplant care - managing patients in recovery unit, ICU, transplant floor, wound management, foley management; Pre-op patients for abdominal transplants (kidney, pancreas, liver).

The PA will work in the inpatient hospitalsetting.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree Required

Graduate of an accredited Physician's Assistant requiredprogram.

Registered as a Physician's Assistant in New YorkState

NCCPAcertified

BLS & ACLS certification required

4 years PA experience - required

Inpatient experience- preferred

Spanish Speaking - preferred not required

Schedule: Variable, includes nights and weekends

12.5 hrs
