Job Description

Summary:

The Child Mind Institute is seeking highly skilled and motivated individuals to join our team as Clinical Team Leaders for our Summer Program for children with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional-Defiant Disorder, and related learning, social, and behavior problems. The Program is offered as a four-week immersive summer session each year. Clinical Team Leaders for this program are trained to use empirically-supported behavior management techniques to work with children with disruptive behavior concerns, encouraging them to engage in positive and pro-social behavior as they interact with other children and adults.

Reporting directly to the director of the program, this is a non-exempt, full-time position located in Manhattan (additional information regarding location will be provided at interview and before positions are officially accepted).

Responsibilities:

  • Leading and supervising a group of 7-10 counselors in implementing the intervention to fidelity
  • Collaborating with fellow Clinical Team Leaders and lead staff
  • Utilizing positive behavior management strategies
  • Assisting lead staff during trainings for counselors
  • Supporting counselors throughout the day, under the supervision of lead staff
  • Leading children through transitions and various daily activities
  • Assisting with developing individualized behavior plans and tracking progress over the program
  • Leading social skills didactics and morning meetings
  • Reviewing treatment records to maximize treatment gains
  • Interfacing with parents, with the guidance of lead staff, to ensure coordination of care is optimized
  • Receiving daily clinical supervision with lead staff to develop individualized treatment goals

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in the Child Mind Institute's Summer Program is required. (If you do not have previous experience, please apply for the Clinical Team Leader position.)
  • Currently enrolled in graduate-level study or having recently completed graduate-level study in clinical psychology, school psychology, mental health counseling, social work, education/special education, or related field of study.
  • Experience leading groups in summer camps, after-school, sports, daycare, or educational programs; experience in organized sports or art programs preferred.
  • Research, clinical, leadership, or field experience working or volunteering with children or adolescents is also preferred.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt; ability to accept and utilize constructive feedback.
  • Ability to commit to all dates of the program's duration, as well as additional dates predetermined by lead staff.
  • Advanced Clinical Team Leaders are required to attend each day of the program and all trainings. The mandatory training will be held on Tuesday, June 25th through Wednesday, July 3rd. The program runs from Monday, July 8th through Friday, August 2nd, 2024. The hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Training and all program days will be located in Manhattan with additional details to follow.

The salary range for the position is posted. Factors such as candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations affect the salary offered within this range.
