Child Mind Institute is currently seeking a post-doctoral researcher (full-time 2 to 3 years contingent upon satisfactory performance) who is interested in the study of the brain development and evolution across species. The overarching goal of this advanced training position include 1) developing cross-species brain alignment between human and non-human primates to support multimodal MRI data, 2) characterizing structural and functionally similarity and divergence of brain networks across species. Fellows will be expected to analyze multimodal imaging data in human and nonhuman primate (e.g. macaque, marmoset etc.) and work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Reporting to the Research Scientist, Center for the Developing Brain. This is an exempt, full-time position located in our NYC headquarters office.

Responsibilities:

  • Processing and analyzing the fMRI, MRI, DTI imaging data for both human and non-human primate datasets
  • Development of a method for cross-species comparison to characterize the static and dynamic functional connectome between a non-human primate and human
  • Problem-solving for issues with the data processing and analytic tools
  • Presentation at conferences, preparation of manuscripts
  • Assist junior research staff in data analysis theory and implementation and participation

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, computer science, bioinformatics, mathematics, neuropsychology, or related fields
  • 1-2 years, prior research experience preferred
  • Prior neuroimaging experience (e.g., fMRI, DTI, MRI, EEG, MEG)
  • Strong skills in using one or more common functional neuroimaging packages (e.g., FreeSurfer, AFNI, FSL, SPM, etc.)
  • Programming experience in one or more languages (e.g., Python, Matlab, R or similar platforms is required).
  • Strong communication skills in English and work in a collaborative and multidisciplinary environment
