Marcum LLP is seeking aSenior to join our growing and well established national firm in Melville. This position requires an experiencedTax professional with strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.

Responsibilities

• Accurately, efficiently, and thoroughly prepare and review individual, partnership, corporate and fiduciary tax returns of moderate complexity.
• Prepare work papers and other documentation, including (but not limited to) tax journal entries to the trial balance, book to tax journal entries, depreciation schedules.
• Develop tax plans and projections for tax extensions.
• Reconcile taxable income.
• Conduct research and stay abreast of latest regulatory changes in tax.
• Provide assistance to peers and others when requested, including overseeing, reviewing work of interns.
• Act as engagement leader as assigned.
• Recognize extended to tax service opportunities for client and bring them to the attention of upper management

Qualifications

• B.S. in Accounting; MS in Taxation desired
• CPA certification or eligibility required
• 2-6 years of relevant experience, preferably in a mid to large public accounting firm
• Understanding of the complex requirements of returns for High Net Worth Individuals, S Corps, C Corps, partnerships
• Understand all aspects of an engagement
• Demonstrated knowledge of accounting principles (such as financial statements and journal entries) and tax standards to effectively supervise staff and solve routine engagement principles
• Strong listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Developed analytical, problem solving, and time managementskills
• Leadership capabilities
• Abilityto effectively articulate basic tax and business issues and their resolutions
