Job Title:Product Quality Engineer - Sealants/Basics

Summary:The Product Quality Engineer will work within the Value Stream, to ensure the overall quality of a manufactured product. This role will work with the wider team of engineers with the overall aim of making sure the final products are safe, reliable, and meet customer expectations while keeping the manufacturing process as effective and cost-efficient as possible. This position plays a key role in fixing problems when they arise, whiles also providing evaluation and response to customer issues. It aims to improve the output quality of a process, by identifying and removing the causes of defects and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes. This role will support both the WTFD and GATE facilities and requires attention to both the Construction Sealants and Basics businesses, which deal with both domestic and international materials and complaints.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Manage Projects aimed at improving product quality and process reliability and conduct statistical analysis of data to evaluate/communicate results with internal and external customers
  • Be the point person for WTFD and GATE disposition of non-conforming material and ensures effective root cause analysis is conducted
  • Implement process changes to support RCCA, particularly design/implementation of lab test methods or Go/NoGo internal testing QC plans
  • Manage the QC testing protocols required for material acceptance criteria
  • Analyze MPM data using Statistical Quality Control (SQC) and Statistical Process Control (SPC) for internal materials and evaluating the quality of internal products
  • Initiate and facilitate Quality Forward look meetings related to produced materials and leads product quality FMEA, Quality Risk Assessments or other quality risk assessment methodologies
  • Review product quality trends within the assigned value stream, identify additional areas of focus and coordinate with WFTD site Quality Leader to address (QAR or similar)
  • Drive implementation of corrective actions for customer complaints and internal defects including verification of effectiveness (QIR)
  • Maintain Customer Complaint system, identifying RCCA and providing customer response notifications
  • Tracks implementation of corrective and preventive actions through effective management of change.
  • Perform customer specification reviews as necessary.
  • Ensure processes and products comply with industry quality standards and programs such as ISO, MIL spec, etc.
  • Collaborate with Site Quality to drive continuous improvement of QC test methods
  • Escalate supplier quality issues to Momentive corporate function and initiate specification changes with suppliers as needed
  • Issue waivers for production by working with technology and operations to determine feasibility
  • Support technology and operations to ensure effective new product introductions so that plant product quality is enhanced
  • Be the lead contact for external audits, as well as supplier audits. This will include FM, UL, Miami Dade, etc.

Qualifications:

The following are required for the role

  • B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
  • 2+ years of related industry experience
  • Ability to create simple, effective and comprehensive work instructions to document strict process procedures and methods
  • Ability to trouble shoot process problems, identify and implement corrective actions
  • Proven problem-solving skills in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office
  • Communication skills: ability to communicate effectively across levels of the organization and to external customers
  • Ability to act in a safe and environmentally responsible manner
  • Embraces innovation

  • Strong sense of accountability, urgency and independence

The following are preferred for the role

  • Experience within the manufacturing industry preferred
  • Technical knowledge in industrial equipment and chemical products
  • Demonstrated knowledge of continuous and batch chemical processes
  • Project Management
  • Six-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S experience are preferred
  • Process Safety Management
  • Automation and digitization skill set
  • Cause Map Trained

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb, twist, turn, grasp, and move about the facility. Walking, walking on irregular surfaces, and balancing will be required. Hearing, sight to include depth perception and color vision, and the ability to speak clearly will be required. Occasional lifting and moving up to 50 lbs. and the ability to comply with Personal Protective Equipment requirements (ability to pass a fit-test and wear a respirator is required for certain positions/locations).

The environment for this position is a Manufacturing setting, with exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noise. Candidates should be able to adapt to a traditional business environment. What We Offer:Base Pay Range: $73,200.00 - $107,360.00

The actual salary offered is determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, skill sets, and geography.
