Responsibilities

New York Tech's historic, luxury mansion seeks Catering Wait Staff to work in the deSeversky Mansion at our Long Island (Old Wesbury) campus.

Responsibilities include:

    Provide attentive and efficient table service to guests creating a memorable dining experience by means of maintaining proper dining etiquette including but not limited to: menu descriptions, order taking, beverage service, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
  • Represent the university in the most upstanding way possible.
  • Communicate to guests and fellow staff members in a respectful manner at all times.
  • Prepare rooms for clients utilizing floor plans, BEO's, timelines and work plans issued or communicated by leadership. This includes the physical movement of tables, chairs, additional furniture, a/v equipment, linens and other catering supplies.
  • Be on the floor 100% of the time during a meal service period to oversee, but not limited to tables assigned by captain.
  • Communicate to management and captains any guests that have consumed an excessive amount of alcohol and need to be cut off.
  • Maintain all equipment that pertains to the service areas
  • Set up each room appropriately according to floor plans
  • Communicate departmental needs, items in need of repair, guest complaints or other deficiencies to the dining room captain immediately.
  • Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the mansion.
  • Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed and/or delegated by supervisor.
  • Follow opening/closing procedures and checklists.
  • Attend all training and development programs as scheduled.
  • Follow policies on grooming, appearance and professionalism standards on a consistent basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Positive and professional demeanor and proven ability to work in a team setting.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills.
  • Available to work weekends, holidays and 9 hour shifts as business dictates.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of times.
  • Able to lift and manage trays of food and glasses with weights at times exceeding 25lbs.
  • Must be willing to work in both indoor and outdoor settings where varying weather and temperature conditions can be expected.

New York Tech considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience/expertise, education/training, key skills, geographic location, internal peer equity as well as market, organizational considerations and/or applicable collective bargaining agreement when extending an offer.

USD $16.00/Hr.
Maximum Salary
USD $20.00/Hr.
