Responsibilities

As a 70% Remote Affordable Housing Compliance Specialist you understand that it all comes down to getting the process right. You're a change maker - executing specialized projects across a region of affordable housing properties to improve overall operational performance. You understand the value of collaborative communication and detailed project plans, and are comfortable with competing priorities and deadlines.This positon will work remotely with up to 30% travel and reports to the Director of Compliance. This person must have the ability to function autonomously while also working in conjunction with coworkers located in other areas of the country.

Compensation:

  • $65000.00 - $75000.00 / year

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING AS AN AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST

  • This role is 70% remote and requires travel throughout the entire New York State at least once per month, as well as, on an as needed basis (may include up to 30% travel)
  • Monitoring and implementing changes in HUD and LIHTC regulations and requirements
  • Maintaining proper maintenance of tenant files and computer records to ensure accuracy according to HUD and LIHTC regulations
  • Determining financial eligibility for all new admissions into the affordable program
  • Review new applicant files
  • Monitoring of waitlists, and EIV master binders for compliance with federal regulations and requirements
  • Assist and review all 8823's corrections and correspondence
  • Examine tenant files in preparation for LIHTC file audits, Management Occupancy Reviews (MOR) and review responses corresponding to agency audits.
  • Monitoring of re-certification notification letters in compliance with HUD and LIHTC regulations
  • Perform training programs to educate and inform the site teams of requirements and responsibilities
  • Remain familiar with current U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ever changing Federal Regulations as they relate to Affordable Housing programs

Qualifications

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • 3-5 years' experience as Compliance professional with Project Based Section 8 HUD, LIHTC and other affordable housing program compliance required
  • This role is 70% remote and requires travel throughout New York at least once per month, as well as, on an as needed basis with occasional overnight travel (may include up to 30% travel)
  • COS or Tax Credit certification required, HCCP preferred
  • Reliable method of transportation and valid driver's license required
  • Knowledge of HUD 4350.3, EIV, Reasonable Accommodation Requests, LIHTC income limits and rent calculations, Fair Housing, Real Estate Licensing strongly preferred
