Job/Internship Description
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Current School of Public Health student.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Background or interest in graphic design and/or health education. Working skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Adobe Creative Suite software.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The candidate will assist with the development of an Ending the Epidemic PowerPoint presentation slide library on the AIDS Institute’s SharePoint site. The library will be a resource to staff across the AIDS Institute who deliver many presentations to different audiences across the State. The student will learn about the AIDS Institute’s portfolio (HIV, Sexually Transmitted Infections, Hepatitis C, Drug User Health, Surveillance Data, Health and Racial Equity, etc.) to become familiar with the many program/services as well as conduct content-specific research for presentation content.  The candidate will assist with developing a library table of contents as well as creating prestation slide layout, graphics, and speaker talking points.


DETAILS OF EMPLOYMENT
From conception to the final product, the selected candidate will develop an AIDS Institute PowerPoint library. Through this process, the candidate will strengthen their understanding of synthesizing community health information into a concise, presentational format.  They will learn how to incorporate graphics and other visual elements to aid in communicating complex ideas. The candidate will build practical skills though hands-on, file archiving and slide set up. Through research and writing, the candidate will leave the internship with a higher knowledge of infectious disease and New York State’s Department of Health’s commitment to Ending the Epidemic.

Hourly intern, grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

Qualified candidates must be either an MPH or an MS Epidemiology student at SUNY Albany’s School of Public Health; AND must have completed at least 24 credits of coursework toward their degree including at least four of the core courses; AND must have maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better AND are unable to participate in an internship if on academic probation.

Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.
