Church Pension Group (CPG) is a financial services organization that serves the Episcopal Church, located in Midtown Manhattan. CPG was founded in 1917 to provide pension benefits to eligible clergy of the Episcopal Church. Since then, its mission has expanded to include life and disability insurance, health benefits, property & casualty insurance, and publishing.

The Manager- Life Event Team is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Life Event Team who administer an array of benefits, which include pension, medical, dental, life insurance and short and long-term disability. This position has responsibility for the team's adherence to benefit plans, policy, processes, and regulatory guidelines. The Manager leads a team who deliver client education through an effortless experience. The position is also responsible for handling benefit inquiries and outreach relative to client life events, with a specific focus on retirement and claims. The Manager works with business leaders in identifying trends and identifying opportunities to implement departmental strategies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Effective performance of the essential functions of this position requires regular in-person, on-site interaction with colleagues, both for purposes of internal and external relationship building and meaningful collaboration.
  • Responsible for managing lifecycle stages for life events, from the initiation through completion, with specific emphasis on client follow-up and education.
  • Craft and execute a business strategy as the client's needs evolve over time.
  • Lead cross-functional team in delivering high quality service to our clients and providing exemplary client service to prospective and current clients; assumes overall responsibility for answering questions regarding products and their administration.
  • Translates identified gaps, challenges, and opportunities into innovative insights and transforms them into actions Interact with all client facing teams to ensure that all service level agreements are met as it relates to the Life Event team.
  • Monitors Client Services performance: measures, revises and/or changes Client service processes to maintain and improve their overall quality, effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Ensures that Client Services skill needs are analyzed and identified, that training needs are identified, and that training plans which meet these needs are developed and delivered; assumes responsibility for equipping staff to provide effective, knowledgeable client service.
  • Manages special projects within Client Services function; collaborates with managers within CPG to manage cross functional projects.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of plan provisions and processes related to Pension, Life, Medical and Disability
  • Assumes responsibility for determining staffing needs as well as scheduling to meet operational needs.

  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel, and Word
  • Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while holding yourself and others accountable for deadlines and deliverables.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • BA\BS or combination of experience and education
  • 8+yrs overall professional experience with a focuses on customer success within a service leader and fast-paced corporate environment
  • Experience with pension plans, health and welfare plan administration, and compliance
  • Prior people and team management experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Commuting to the office, on average, three days a week. Extensive use of a computer keyboard is a demand of the position to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. WORK ENVIRONMENT:Hybrid (two days working from home, three days working in a standard office environment, Tue-Thurs.). Salary Range: $93,000 - $120,000
