Job Summary

The ISO Systems & Sustainability Manager is responsible for the management and maintenance of all local requirements under the ISO 14001 - Environmental Management System (EMS), ISO 45001 - Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS), and ISO 50001 - Energy Management System (EnMS) for the Plant (Production Unit), in accordance with the current ISO Standards, as well as all Sustainability initiatives. This position drives the Site's performance as set by applicable ISO Standards, global ISO Management Handbooks, Standard Operating Procedures, Guiding Documents.
The ISO Systems & Sustainability Manager acts as Environmental Management Representative (EMR) with responsibilities that include hazardous and non-hazardous waste management (excluding the Wastewater Treatment Plant operations and associated regulatory requirements). Creates, implements, and manages programs to protect or improve environmental quality and ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws and regulations, as well as appropriate regulatory bodies such as EPA, DEC, ISO, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
Salary Range - $88,171K-130k Plus 10% annual bonus

Responsibilities

1) ISO Management Systems Oversight:

- Manage and maintain ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 standards at the local level, in alignment with global ISO standards and guidelines.

- Define internal goals, objectives/targets, and KPIs/EnPIs to ensure compliance and track progress against set standards

- Gather and upkeep data, documentation, communication, and provision of periodic ISO Key Performance Indicators (KPIs/EnPis) and other Metrics.

- Conduct periodic Management Reviews to Site Management relative to ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001, & Sustainability systems and efforts.

- Participate as auditor in Regional Audits of these ISO systems at other Sites, and actively participalte as an auditee in Global, Regional, Internal (local) and/or External Audits (by certifying body) of said local systems.

- Initiate and drive corrective and preventive actions identified during audits.

- Travel up to 10% of total time worked, as required.

2) Environmental Management System (EMS) Leadership:

- Ensure compliance with ISO 14001 and other relevant environmental regulations and standards.

- Monitor, review, and assess the progress of EMS programs, coordinating cross-functional activities to improve environmental performance.

- Serve as the technical expert on EMS matters and provide guidance to EMS teams/sub-teams and project/task owners.

- Works with emergency response team to address and investigate environmental incidents and ensure timely implementation of identified CAPAs if /when required.

- Enforces environmental regulations and supports management during regulatory inspections and internal/external audits.

- Responsible for the reduction of the environmental impacts of the site/Production Unit.

- Coordinates regulatory compliance effort to ensure environmental procedures and permit applications and renewals are budgeted for, prepared, and submitted to regulatory agencies on a timely basis, including annual reports to NYSDEC/USEPA, as well as local/state/federal municipalities and regulatory bodies as applicable, Hazardous Wate Plans/Contingency Plant, and Pollution Prevention Plans.

- Serves as the EMS technical expert to the site and provides input for maintaining the organization sustainability initiatives.

- Provides guidance to EMS teams/sub-teams and project/task owners in the application of strategies for risk avoidance and identifies cost saving opportunities.

3) Waste Management

- Manages all hazardous, non-hazardous, biohazard and universal waste including the accumulation, storage, manifesting, arrangements for transport and performs cost analysis of associated disposal.

- Supervise 1-3 direct reports.

- Administers and maintains the records for the Universal Hazardous Waste Manifest inventory for hazardous and non-hazardous regulated medical and bioharzard wastes.

- Administer and maintain records for hazardous waste management and ensure compliance with disposal regulations.

4) Sustainability Initiatives:

- Drive sustainability efforts within the organization, including the assessment of environmental aspects and reduction of environmental impacts.

- Provide input for maintaining organizational sustainability initiatives and support sustainability projects as necessary.

5) Regulatory Compliance and Reporting:

- Coordinate regulatory compliance efforts, including the preparation and submission of permit applications and renewals to regulatory agencies such as EPA, DEC, ISO, and other relevant regulatory bodies.

- Enforce environmental regulations and support management during regulatory inspections and internal/external audits.

6) Training and Communications:

- Provide guidance, training, and assistance to ensure effective environmental measures are implemented and compliance is maintained.

- Create and present metrics-based reports to site, regional, and global management teams as required.

Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in environmental science, Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred

* Certification in Lead Auditor Training in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ISO 50001 standards preferred

* Experience in managing environmental management systems and sustainability programs. Certification in RCRA Hazardous Waste Management preferred

* Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and compliance requirements

* Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills

* Ability to work effectively across departments and influence stakeholders at all levels.

* Experience in conducting audits and implementing corrective actions

Proficiency in data analysis and reporting
