About the Role:

The strategic planning analyst works on the analysis of NYSTEC's opportunity areas which affect growth, development, and financials. The role involves using industry data to help with defining variables that can enhance or detract from business operations, conducting research and analyzing issues to provide clarity and to facilitate decision making, and supporting business initiatives as directed by the director of strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supports the director of strategy in coordinating annual strategic and business planning activities.
  • Prepares agendas and meeting materials for the risk and mission fulfillment committee, corporate governance, operational alignment, management team alignment, and monthly leadership team chats.
  • Continually evaluates meeting effectiveness, looks ahead to plan meetings for the fiscal year, and coordinates with subject matter experts on content.
  • Creates systems and processes to support the tracking and sharing of action items, risks, issues, and decisions to support the organization and provide transparency into initiatives.
  • Monitors and follows up on action items from meetings and tracks status updates.
  • Creates reporting systems and guidance for all departments, ensuring that necessary internal data is collected in a timely manner.
  • Develops dashboard reports to create transparency and ease of tracking progress on strategic goals and initiatives to provide meaningful information to leaders and managers.
  • Supports the adoption of organizational change management best practices.
  • Conducts research or special projects relative to strategic business issues (internal strengths and weaknesses, environmental opportunities and threats, competitors, clients, etc.).
  • Supports the creation of responsibilities, processes, and system solutions to improve collaboration and the sharing of research across the business.
  • Works closely with the Marketing and Communications department to develop materials and streamlines the communication of changes to managers within the organization.
  • Acts as a liaison between stakeholders and the corporate governance team in analyzing departmental alignment issues and resolution options to ensure a complete and accurate understanding of the business implications of decisions.

About You:

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge and Application: Develops professional expertise and applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues. Determines a course of action based on guidelines and modifies processes and methods, as required.
  • Complexity and Problem Solving: Works on problems of moderate scope, which are often varied and routine, where the analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. Applies learned techniques and contributes to analysis and investigation to solve problems. Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments.
  • Collaboration and Interaction: Builds productive internal/external working relationships to resolve mutual problems by collaborating on procedures or transactions. Focuses on providing standard professional advice and creating initial reports/analyses for review by experienced team professionals.
  • Able to research, compile, and summarize varied data and information, evaluate alternatives, and reach sound conclusions.
  • Able to prepare clear and accurate reports, correspondence, procedures, and other written materials.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Understands NYSTEC's mission, brand mindsets, and core values and can put the behaviors into practice.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree and four years of experience in business analysis or financial management. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience will be considered.

The pay range for this position is $69,385.00 to $95,405.20 per year.
