Saab, Inc. is seeking a Payroll Accounting Specialist to join our team in Syracuse, NY. The payroll specialist's primary role will be completing bi-weekly payrolls for multiple business units across the US. The secondary responsibility is to review, prioritize, and complete Saab's travel reports (i.e., expense reports), following government regulations and the company travel policy.

Responsibilities include:

  • New Hire Onboarding: ability to conduct group training sessions.

  • Process new hires, terminations, status changes, deductions, rate changes, retroactive adjustments, and special pays.

  • Review employee timesheets weekly on two different operating systems.

  • Process payroll cycles on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Maintaining timecard entries for employees on leave

  • Review, add, and maintain employee paid time off records.

  • Completing Government Compliance payroll reconciliations

  • Compile, and review reports to complete premium pay adjustments.

  • Prepare and review payroll reports on a biweekly, quarterly, and annual basis.

  • Review and process employee travel and living expenses - ensuring expenses are reimbursed in accordance with company policy.

  • Reviewing aged transactions and following up with employees and managers to ensure timely completion.

  • Employee 1:1 training to compete expense reports.

  • Completing accounts payable distributions for all payroll related costs on a bi-weekly basis

Compensation Range: $19.47-$22.88

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

Skills and Experience:
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

  • HS Diploma, associate degree in accounting preferred

  • 2+ years' experience in Payroll and/or in an accounting discipline

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently and in a team environment.

  • Solid written and oral communication skills and analytical problem solving

  • Sound and consistent business judgment, a good grasp of Company priorities and a sense of urgency

  • High level of enthusiasm, with the ability to remain flexible to meet internal and external needs.

  • Oracle experience helpful, but not required.

  • ADP experience helpful, but not required.

Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen, Permanent Resident (green card holder), or protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
