Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Statistics or Biostatistics or a related field. Two (2) years' experience of biostatistical consultation and/or collaboration. Proficient in SAS or R statistical software and/or Microsoft Excel software.
Preferred Qualifications:
PhD (foreign equivalent or higher). Three (3) years' experience in biostatistical consultation and/or collaboration.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Biostatistical Consulting Core, Office of Scientific Affairs, School of Medicine, Stony Brook University is looking for a master-level biostatistician with 3 years of experience with a strong interest in academic scholarship and publication as well as skills in managing, programming and analyzing data from multiple sources. The successful candidate will work with investigators, research coordinators, medical students, and post-graduate fellows to complete various translational and clinical research projects using a variety of statistical techniques. In addition, the successful candidate will get an opportunity to collaborate with other experienced statisticians and supervise junior trainees who are enrolled in Stony Brook University graduate programs. The successful incumbent should become well versed with medical terminology. The biostatistician will have well-developed analytical, organizational, and oral and written communication skills. Along with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts, both written and oral. The successful incumbent will need to work independently, as well as in a team environment, and supervise students and junior biostatisticians. The biostatistician is responsible for managing and prioritizing multiple projects to ensure on-time delivery as well as meticulous quality. Ability to effectively communicate biostatistical concepts, both written and oral.
