Overview

A Sommelier is a wine expert who works in a restaurant, bar, winery, culinary school or retail outlet. They are responsible for creating wine lists, recommending food and wine pairings, and advising guests on wine choices. They collaborate with chefs, manage the wine cellar, and ensure wines are served correctly.

Responsibilities

You welcome every guest with a smile, and as an ambassador for the hotel, assist the service team in making sure they are taken care of from the moment they sit down to their last drink. You guide guests through the wine list to assist them in finding the perfect glass or bottle for the meal or occasion. You will complete full wine service on tables that participate for by the bottle service and by the glass service. You are able to discover faults in wine and you are able to pair food and wine perfectly for any guest. In addition to leading wine service during dinner, you are responsible for keep the wine storage stocked and prepared for service. You will assist the Beverage Director in various roles including leading trainings for the service team.

Qualifications

You are passionate and enthusiastic about wine. That passion shows through when you discuss our wine list. Multi-tasking is something that comes naturally to you, as does working under pressure. While you're great in an environment chatting one-on-one with a customer, you thrive just as well with a packed restaurant area. Sophisticated and approachable, you take pride in a well-groomed appearance, and a work environment that allows for that. You can lift 60 pounds. You have a desire to learn more and have a strong sense of organization. You likely have experience in a Forbes five star or Michelin Star environment. Preferably, you have a minimum of 2 years' experience in similar position, and are a Court of Master Sommelier Certified Sommelier or completed WSET Level 2.

Salary Range ($85,000.00 - $100,000.00)
