Controllers, Investment Accounting - Analyst

We're looking for a bright, proactive, driven professional to join our Controllers team in New York, who is keen to use and develop their technical accounting skills to provide high quality reporting and analysis of our entities' assets and profitability in a challenging and varied environment. We're seeking a professional with an interest and experience working on entities with diversified portfolios of real estate equity and debt investments.

Controllers Division - Our Impact

Controllers are a diverse team of specialists charged with ensuring the firm meets all the financial control and reporting obligations of a global, regulated and public financial institution. In the Controllers Division, our professionals measure the profitability of, and risks associated with, every aspect of the firm's business. Controllers also ensure that the firm's activities are conducted in compliance with the regulations governing transactions in the financial markets. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform accounting in accordance with US GAAP Historical Cost and Fair Value, including:

  • act in an oversight function of day-to-day accounting of real estate investments and corporate fund level activity
  • collaborate with other GS divisions, external third party fund administrators, external and internal auditors, and other parties to investigate and resolve operational and accounting needs
  • manage and review the liquidity needs/cash availability for the investments
  • prepare and book journal entries relating to daily cash activity, debt payments, fund level expenses, and investor contributions and distributions
  • prepare and review financial data used in monthly and quarterly consolidated reporting
  • ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements through coordination with other departments such as financial and regulatory reporting controllers, fund accounting, corporate treasury/operations, and external auditors.
  • proactively identify improvements to manual processes and automate workflows leading to higher value-added work
  • involvement in a broad range of department-wide projects and initiatives as well as cross-departmental initiatives.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong analytical, time management and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in US GAAP, accounting processes, controls and systems
  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or finance
  • 1-4 years relevant work experience
  • Familiarity with information systems and data management concepts

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CPA or CPA candidate
  • Experience in Yardi
  • Industry experience in Real Estate/REITs, Investments Funds or Financial Services

Salary Range
The expected base salary for this New York, New York, United States-based position is $75000-$100000. In addition, you may be eligible for a discretionary bonus if you are an active employee as of fiscal year-end.
