POSITION PURPOSE

The HR Plant Manager is responsible for providing comprehensive HR support to the Union employee population and their respective supervisors. This role is an individual contributor, fully bilingual with excellent fluency in both English and Spanish and possess advanced Excel skills for reporting and data manipulation. The HR Plant Manager will play a critical role as the liaison between the union and all stakeholders, maintaining positive labor relations and compliance with the Collection Bargaining Agreement (CBA), while also handling administrative responsibilities, day-to-day employee matters, staffing, and onboarding for approximately 450 union associates in a three-shift operation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

  • Union Relations: Serve as the primary HR point of contact for unionized employees and their supervisors, as well as the Union Representative. Maintain positive labor relations, collaborate with union representatives, and ensure compliance with the CBA.
  • Employee Support: Provide day-to-day consultation, advice, and guidance to union employees, addressing inquiries, concerns, and grievances promptly and confidentially. Assist in resolving union-related issues effectively.
  • Influence Leader Behavior: Provide guidance and influence the behavior and actions of team leaders, supervisors and managers to ensure effective union associate management.
  • Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to federal and state employment laws, as well as compliance with union contracts. Keep policies and procedures updated and communicate changes to union employees and supervisors.
  • HR Data Analysis: Utilize advanced Excel skills to collect, analyze, and present HR data, identifying trends and informing decision-making in union-related matters.
  • Training and Development: Plan and facilitate state or company-required training programs for union employees and their supervisors to ensure compliance and skill development. Work with Operations leadership to develop internal training programs from union associates as needed.
  • Conflict Resolution: Mediate and facilitate the resolution of conflicts between union employees, their supervisors, and union representatives. Promote positive employee relations and a harmonious workplace culture.
  • Staffing and Onboarding: Participate in the staffing process for union positions, including recruitment, selection, and onboarding. Collaborate with external recruiting agencies and hiring managers to ensure a smooth onboarding experience for new union employees.
  • Administrative Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day HR administrative tasks, including record-keeping, employee file maintenance, and data entry to ensure accurate and up-to-date HR records.
  • Bilingual Communication: Act as a bridge between English-speaking and Spanish-speaking employees, ensuring effective communication and understanding of HR-related matters.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources Management or equivalent experience
  • 5 - 10 years of experience in HR management of union organizations
  • Extensive experience in planning, developing and implementing strategic programs and processes in a union environment
  • Experience in an FDA regulated environment desirable

  • Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reporting
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
  • Exceptional problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities
  • HR certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position operates in an office environment within a manufacturing facility, involving a combination of sitting, standing, and extensive typing.
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. may be required for tasks within the office and HR support functions.
  • Regular communication and collaboration with union representatives, union employees, and their supervisors.
  • Occasional evening or weekend work may be required for special projects or meetings.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours between 6:30 am - 4:30 pm, five days a week, on-site.

SALARY RANGE

  • $115,000 - $125,000 annually
