Job Description
The CNS biology and microglia differentiation Co-Op is responsible for providing support for the development of BlueRock's next-generation myeloid bioprocess. Our goal is to develop an off-the-shelf cell therapy to treat neurodegenerative disorders. This role will work closely with the myeloid cell platform leads to generate sound scientific evidence that will support and drive the company's pipeline and clinical development strategy. The successful candidate will integrate into our high-functioning, multi-disciplinary teams in Research and interact with various programs while based in New York City.
Responsibilities
  • Cultivate, maintain, and cryopreserve pluripotent stem cells and differentiate myeloid cells to support pipeline development.
  • Gain solid understanding of stem cell biology, scientific drivers for bioprocess development, and concepts of cell and gene therapies.
  • Perform phenotypic characterization of cell products and leverage analytical metrices to determinethe reproducibility and robustness of bioprocess modifications.
  • Document experimental data in electronic laboratory notebooks in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with the company quality management standards.
  • Be a compliance champion and adhere to laboratory safety standards and follow standard operating procedures.
  • Analyze and present scientific data to colleagues in group meetings, functional meetings, and other internal meetings if applicable.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university biomedical, biology, or related field of study.
  • Commitment of 6-month, full-time.
  • Must be 18 years of age by the start of the internship/co-op.
  • Must have transportation to the site in New York City.
  • This position is intended to be on-site.
  • Excellent organizational skills, self-motivated to excel in afast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and a strong team player.
  • Must be passionate about the concept of cell therapy and performing tissue culture.
  • Experiences in molecular biology (quantitative PCR, immunoassays, flow cytometry) is preferred.
All Emerging Talent roles are paid $28/hr.
