Marcum LLP is seeking a Private Client Services Tax Staff to join our growing and well-established national firm in our New York City office location. The position requires a high-energy, experienced professional, with strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Contains moderate technical knowledge of accounting standards and reporting standards in researching and understanding technical areas.
  • Addresses questions on technical accounting matters from team members and upper level client management
  • Has moderate to intermediate level tax preparation skills
  • Performs a detailed review of their workflow and monitors tasks to ensure they are completed on a timely basis
  • Manages multiple assignments inside an engagement
  • Has moderate knowledge of applicable accounting software (e.g. Axcess Tax, Engagement, SurePrep, etc.)
  • Prepare and review federal and state individual and partnership returns, including exercising professional judgment with respect to issue identification to develop solutions.
  • Ensure complete client satisfaction through open communication, managing and meeting deadlines, and proactively sharing tax savings strategies.
  • Work closely with Partners, Senior Managers, Managers and staff on client management, professional development, and business development activities.
  • Attend professional development and continuing education sessions on a regular basis.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a preferred field of study in Accounting
  • CPA eligible
  • Minimum 1-2 years of tax experience in public accounting.
  • 1-2 years of experience in preparation of Individual, Partnership, Trust, S-Corps and Private Foundation returns
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently, but also work well with others

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license or on track to obtain
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Taxation
  • Software Experience - CCH Axcess Tax, Microsoft Office 365

Compensation Range

Salary: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00
