Scope of role

The Linear Motion Division is a major contributor to the Segment, with approximately 1,500 global associates and $400M in revenue. There are 10 main sites located across the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, & Europe.

The Application Engineer serves as a technical resource for the sales team. Working in conjunction with the sales team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Application Engineer must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with sales team to analyze Customer needs and requirements to determine best solution
  • Process technical design information and develop pricing for custom products
  • Interact with manufacturing and production planning in quoting custom products to obtain cost/production information, manufacturing lead times, etc.
  • Initiate special part # entry process into system if orders are received for custom products.
  • Maintain Customer Drawing Network Folder (Shared) for customer drawings ensuring prints are clear, readable, and up to date at the time quotation is sent to customer.
  • Modify Customer drawings as advised by customers (as necessary) while documenting date, requestor, and reason for all changes.
  • Perform engineering calculations as necessary for product selection criteria based on customer provided parameters.
  • Assist customers in finding crosses to competitor products.
  • Provide customers with required engineering data, drawings etc.
  • Utilize CRM database (Salesforce.com) and ERP system (Oracle) on a daily basis.
  • Work with engineering team to develop solutions, testing, validation procedures, documentation, etc.
  • Prepare and maintain specifications and support documentation
  • Modify existing products by adding new features or enhancing capabilities.
  • Build/test prototypes
  • Travel to customer location as needed-up to 20%
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary range: $65,000-$80,000

Compensation is based on a variety of factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, qualifications, and business considerations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in technical support role preferred
  • Experience with RF and/or Power Magnetics is a plus
  • Experience with design software/engineering calculations
  • Strong computer skills with Microsoft Office experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environment with quick turnaround times for customer responses
  • Must be willing to be a "hands on" engineer, as role involves designing, building, and testing prototypes.
