Responsibilities / Duties: The Batch Operator job consists of the following:

1. Batching:

  • Operate all batching equipment following Corporate POG, Plant DPS, Plant Safety, and GMP programs.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly batching area to ensure that the specified degree of cleanliness and sanitation standards are being met. This includes daily "end of the shift" batching area cleanup.
  • Maintain a clean and organized Cool Whip hot room to ensure that the specified degree of cleanliness and sanitation standards are being met.
  • Maintain a clean and organized Cool Whip poly 60/65 pump room to meet the specified degree of cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized CIP room to ensure that the specified degree of cleanliness and sanitation standards are being met.
  • Follow all HACCP guidelines.
  • Adherence to all QRMP standards and protocols.
  • Product changeover cleaning/sanitizing and production activities.
  • Safe use and handling of chemicals.

2. CIP / Cleaning Specialist:

  • Perform sanitation and CIP/COP cleaning to plant equipment following Plant DPS procedures. This includes chemical safety and proper documentation of the sentry system and misc. charts/audit forms.

  • Perform end-of-week shutdown cleaning activities. Including, but not limited to, CIPS, chemical usage, handling, working with strahman hoses (hot and cold water), batch deck area cleaning and foaming, liquid waste removal, liquid waste cart handling, and period cleaning.

3. Other Responsibilities:

  • Communicate with the Supervisor or Group Leader about product changeover and any other information necessary to ensure the specified degree of quality and efficiency.
  • Recognize and report to Supervisor any unusual condition or defective equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area to ensure the specified degree of cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Observe all safety rules, precautions, and practices to guarantee the safety of self and others.
  • Preventative maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Period cleaning as assigned.
  • Train additional personnel in this operation as required.
  • Attend confined space training and maintain confined space qualifications.
  • Valve rebuilding.
  • Participate in the QRMP yearly audit and assist in developing procedures and corrective actions.
  • Perform all other duties that the Supervisor or Group Leader may assign.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk and hear; The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 50 - 100 pounds, requesting assistance, as necessary.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. During his/her career, the employee will be exposed during his/her career to high noise levels, chemicals, heat, fumes, airborne particles, numerous stair climbing, and slippery floors.

Personal Protective Equipment: The employee is regularly required to wear company-authorized safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, rubber boots, chemical protection, and other personal protective equipment to perform the functions of this job safely and successfully.

Applicants must have demonstrated communication and documentation skills:

*Reading Standard English Text - Read documents written in Standard English (e.g., administrative

policy manuals).

*Conversational Speaking - Speak one-to-one using appropriate vocabulary and grammar to obtain information, explain policies and procedures, and discuss various job-related topics on short or no notice.

Quality testing and record-keeping duties of this position make it necessary for the operator to read, write and perform basic arithmetic calculations. Applicants will be requested to demonstrate ability in these areas before bids are awarded.

Demonstrated proficiency in using computer applications.

Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team.

These are the primary job functions for the CW Operator and any other duties as directed by the Supervisor.
