Position Summary

The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager, Mediabrands North America Agencies. Responsibilities include assisting with the monthly close process and managing ad-hoc requests made by Management.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for general ledger accountability & financial reporting
  • Provide financial analysis and month-end reporting support to Mediabrands Regional Controller group
  • For each entity, support the accounting manager with monthly close process including distributing and collecting monthly memos, timely preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial statements and supporting work papers
  • Report monthly accounting and business updates to the Network Controllers team
  • Research and analyze fluctuations between current financial results compared to budgets, prior year, prior months
  • Review aged accounts receivable/WIP balances with each respective entity and assess reserves
  • Support annual on site visits of North American agencies lead by the IPG Regional Controllers group
  • Manage ad-hoc requests made by Management
  • Respond to IPG external and internal audit requests
  • Observe account balances for irregularities and investigate other instances of account balance discrepancies
  • Partner with multiple groups within IPG including Mediabrands Finance teams, Mediabrands Network Controllers group, IPG Shared Services group and IPG Regional Controllers group

Desired Skills & Experience

  • BS/BA in Finance or Accounting degree and CPA track is preferred but not required
  • 3-4 years Accounting/Finance experience
  • Exposure to journal entries, month-end reconciliations, AP/AR and other accounting areas
  • Great organizational and time management skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Self-starter with ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Advanced Excel required: (pivot tables, spreadsheets, queries, etc.)
  • Hyperion and SAP is a plus
  • Media experience is a plus
