Worthington Steel is hiring a Maintenance Mechanic Technician. This individual is responsible for completing advanced mechanical repairs, perform routine and preventative maintenance on machinery/equipment and have an advanced understanding of hydraulic/pneumatic troubleshooting. The ideal candidate must possess in-depth multi-trade knowledge with the ability to complete work with little direction necessary, in an efficient and safe manner throughout the facility. This role may also be asked to perform basic machining operations, maintaining, and troubleshooting HVAC, plumbing and pump systems. A successful candidate is a self-motivated problem-solver that utilizes a strong work ethic to ensure all maintenance quality levels are met.

Pay Range: $25-$33/hr., depending on experience

Rotating Shift: 1 month on day shift, 7am-3pm/1 week on afternoons, 3pm-11pm. Overtime as needed and scheduled in advance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance to machinery and equipment including cranes, aerial lifts, forklifts, and general facility maintenance.
  • Perform all work in a safe manner and ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and regulations when performing Lock Out Tag Out. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and make certain that all safety equipment is in proper working order.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and install equipment in compliance with all plant codes, policies, and procedures.
  • Safely utilize facility equipment, hand tools, power tools and precision-measuring instruments.
  • Perform root cause analysis of equipment breakdowns, issue corrective actions and perform proactive repairs.
  • Maintain work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition at all times.
  • Able to operate fork trucks, scissor and aerial lifts to perform job assignments (Training provided).
  • Use of electronic asset maintenance software to track work orders and preventative maintenance discoveries
  • Able to lift a maximum of 40 pounds (seek assistance if heavier than 40lbs).
  • Able to work overtime (including Saturdays) if needed.

Desired Experience

  • Good problem-solving skills, safety practices and attention to detail
  • Familiar with troubleshooting production equipment and facility maintenance operations.
  • Understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic systems, Basic understanding of electrical control systems.
  • Capable of maintaining, repairing, fabrication and installation of machine components.
  • Experience with reading mechanical drawing, system diagrams, and equipment literature
  • Experience with troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining material handling equipment
  • May require CPR and First Aid training
  • Familiar with OSHA compliance-Lockout/Tagout, fall protection, PPE, confined spaces training
