GENERAL PURPOSE

As a member of the Finance Leadership Team, provides effective financial management for corporate functions using technical expertise and analytical skills. Leads strategic planning, ongoing development, and coordination of all investor relations activities to enhance Herman Miller's impact among our stakeholders, including the investment and analyst communities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


Responsible for broadening and increasing shareholder value through effective communication of business results, outlook, and strategic direction as well as increased investor engagement, acting as a corporate spokesperson representing the organization to the capital markets.

Develops long- and short-term investor relations strategies utilizing strategic targeting techniques to establish relationships and direct communications to appropriate investors and analysts through one-on-one meetings, company-sponsored meetings and investor conferences.

Assists in the fair valuation of the stock by developing proactive communications with the financial community, reviewing complex financial models, managing analyst expectations, educating the financial community on how to measure the company's future prospects and understanding capital / equity markets.

Compiles data, produces and files SEC reporting in a timely and accurate manner according to regulations.

Works with the leadership team in developing goals and objectives for the business. Reflects these goals, as appropriate, in the annual and long-range business plans.

Assists in formulating strategic plans by providing market intelligence-developments in the financial markets, perceptions of investors, peer company developments, industry dynamics and competitive strategies.

Oversees the shareholder services function (e.g. stock transfer agent relationship, stock administration, insider trade reporting and the annual shareholder's meeting and proxy preparation).

Ensures the effective dissemination of information to the financial community by developing compelling messages, formulating communication strategies, producing investor communications and enhancing the investor website. Oversees the preparation and production of annual and quarterly reports.

Represents the company and leads presentations at investor conferences, road shows, and investor 1:1's. Drafts financial press releases and conference call scripts and manages the quarterly earnings conference calls and webcasts.

Serve as primary day-to-day contact for investment analysis, portfolio managers, and financial media.

Coaches, mentors and develops leaders; ensures organization is identifying and grooming next level leaders; leading in succession planning activities for their functional area.

Additional Essential Functions

Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

Interacts on a regular basis with the Leadership Team, the Board of Directors, and the Financial Community. Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting. MBA or MS strongly preferred.

10+ years of professional experience.

5+ years of leadership experience across multiple functions and/or previous executive leadership roles; global experience preferred.


Must have proven experience working with Capital/Debt Markets, Credit Rating Agencies, Bank Financing, Cash Management, Investment Management, Currency Hedging, Financial Statement Analysis, Forecasting, International Treasury, Investor Relations, Annual Meeting/Proxy Experience, and Stock Management.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to interact with BOD and senior management. Expert ability to think strategically and execute tactically.

Demonstrated high level of personal integrity and business ethics.

Ability to use a broad business acumen and holistic perspective to see opportunities and risks of potential trade-offs. Must be profit conscious and proficient with P&L responsibilities.

Highly adept at leading through influence, setting direction and delivering results.

Successful experience with change management principles and demonstrated ability to drive and manage the change process from strategic planning through implementation and follow-thru.

Proven strong interpersonal skills and proven ability to develop sound, long-term customer relationships and the ability to influence customers.

Strong relationship and consensus-building skills necessary to manage projects in a complex matrixed environment. Demonstrated ability to lead, influence and work with all levels in the organization.

Demonstrated expert written/verbal communication skills, and a proven capability to present complex concepts in a concise and understandable way to a variety of audiences including the highest level of the organization.

Demonstrated excellent coaching, mentoring, and people development skills. Easily makes connections among previously unrelated notions
