Job Description

Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Psychology or a related field, in hand by June 2024. Experience with human subjects research.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with data collection and management. Experience with preparation of regulatory materials (e.g., IRB, grant progress reports). Experience with budget management and/or reconciliation. Experience involving direct interaction with psychiatric or neurologic patient populations. Experience working in a hospital or medical center setting.

Brief Description of Duties:
The Research Support Specialist (RSS) will support MRI, PET, and other (e.g., TMS, EEG, etc.) brain imaging studies of patients with psychiatric disorders and healthy individuals. The RSS will directly interact with study participants, scanner technicians, student volunteers, and other research personnel (principal investigators, MDs, PhD physicists, psychologists, social workers, and data analysts, etc.). The RSS will also accompany participants to PET and MRI scans, supervise imaging procedures, and collect & manage study-related information. The RSS will set up and utilize computers and other specialized research equipment. The RSS will also maintain the integrity of collected data in an electronic database, update the study protocol documents as needed, and ensure compliance with all Institutional Review Board and other institutional policies. The successful incumbent must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and time-management abilities. The desired applicant will have demonstrated interest in clinical research.

Duties:

  • Conduct study procedures, including MRI, neuropsychological, and behavioral testing.
  • Recruit, screen, and schedule research participants.
  • Maintain study charts and study-related documents for ensuring IRB compliance.
  • Coordinate participant appointments with multiple team members.
  • Maintain collected data in an electronic database.
  • Help maintain a federally funded study budget with respect to participant payments, receipt reconciliation, Principal Investigator travel, and ordering study supplies.
  • Assist in managing a team of volunteer research assistants.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non-Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.


Evening and weekend work may be required at times.
